Minister for Sport and Recreation, Graham Annesley, today announced the NSW Government will provide a grant of $10,000 to support the 2013 Apia Wheelchair International currently underway at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre.

?This year will be the 25th anniversary of Wheelchair Sports NSW hosting the Wheelchair International Open here in Sydney,? said Mr Annesley.
?With a total prize pool of nearly $40,000 on offer, the Open has attracted a field of very talented athletes with over 70 percent of the field being internationals.
?The influx of international competitors is a great boon for the sport, and organisers can be rightly proud of their efforts in making the Sydney Wheelchair International Open a marquee event on the player?s calendar.
?Spectator entry is free, making this a wonderful opportunity to see elite athletes in action, including Paralympic medallists.
?These events showcase NSW on the world stage and allow local athletes and officials to gain elite competition experience on home soil.
?I wish the best of luck to everyone competing,? Mr Annesley added.
