INDIANAPOLIS ? The Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library in Indianapolis is taking part in a summit in Washington, D.C., aimed at showing veterans the benefits of the arts.

The program called National Summit: Arts, Health and Well-being Across the Military Continuum is being held Wednesday at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The invitation-only summit focuses on the advantages of arts exposure, active art-making and issues related to research, and policy and practice in arts and health from pre-deployment through return to civilian life.

The Vonnegut Library has forged partnerships with various military groups in the past year to present programs aimed at showing veterans how the arts and humanities can help them communicate and heal.
